The football club Newell's Old Boys from Rosario has reached an agreement with the outstanding goalkeeper from Costa Rica – Keylor Navas, three-time winner of the Champions League and the Club World Cup with Madrid's Real, to become the fourth rookie of the team. After an unsuccessful 2024, when Newell's finished in 25th place out of 28 in the Liga Profesional de Fútbol, did not advance in the Copa Libertadores, was eliminated from the Copa Argentina in the Round of 16, and suffered two defeats in the derby against Rosario Central, the management 'Lepra' under the leadership of Mariano Soso aims to improve the performance left over from last year and strengthen to avoid thinking about the relegation battle.

Next, the football team from Rosario has strengthened its defense with Lucas Sosa from Barcelona, Ecuador, left-back Alejo Tabárez from All Boys, and central defender Luciano Lollo, a free agent from Estudiantes de La Plata. Nevertheless, not limited to these three names, Newell's has also been working on acquiring a player, who undoubtedly would shake up the Argentine football market, as the Spaniard Andrés Herrera has recently arrived in Boca: the Costa Rican goalkeeper, three-time winner of the Champions League and Club World Cup with Real Madrid, Keylor Navas.

**Keylor Navas:** "I am happy to sign a contract with Newell's Old Boys; I respect this club and am ready to bring value to the team."

At 38 years old, hailing from the province of San José in Costa Rica, he debuted in 2005 for Deportivo Saprissa, one of the largest clubs in Costa Rican football, where he won six national tournaments and the historic CONCACAF Champions Cup that same year. After five years in 'Morados', where he played 91 matches and conceded 79 goals, Navas moved to Spanish football to join Albacete in the Second Division, where he spent the entire season, playing 36 matches and conceding 49 goals.

With 162 matches and 159 conceded goals in his record, the Costa Rican has won two La Liga titles in Spain and ten international titles, among which are three UEFA Champions League titles and three club World Cup championships. He is already considered one of the best in the world in his position and has been a key player for the Costa Rica national team, with which he also participated in the World Cup in Russia 2018. Navas moved to Paris Saint-Germain in France, where he spent three years, winning 10 domestic titles in 114 matches.
